1990        –     The Bulgarian Aikido Federation was established. Georgi Ivanov was elected its President

1992  may  -   The Bulgarian Aikido Federation was admitted as a regular member of the European Aikido Federation

1992 september -The Bulgarian Aikido Federation was acknowledged by Aikikai Hombu Dodjo and became a member of the International Aikido Federation

1993 - Delegation and demonstration during the World Games of Non-olympic Sports

1995 october - Host of the European Aikido Federation congress

1996 1 December - Sensei Georgi Ivanov died in a car accident

1997 1 December  -   An official delegation from Hombu Dodjo conferred posthumously 4-th Dan on Sensei Georgi Ivanov

2004 september  - The Bulgarian Aikido Federation received an official license from the Ministry of Youth and Sports

2004 october - A delegation from the Bulgarian Aikido Federation took part in a seminar on the occasion of the 40-th year from the foundation of the Italian Aikido Federation

2005 july - Delegation form the Bulgarian Aikido Federation and demonstration during the World games of Non-olympic Sports held in Germany

Sensei Georgi Ivanov
Sensei Georgi Ivanov was born February 3, 1958 in Silistra. He had been practicing martial arts since 1972. During the 80s he was among the founders of Aikido in Bulgaria. In 1990 he was the first one to be elected President of the Bulgarian Aikido Federation.
As he worked hard to teach and make popular Aikido in Bulgaria the Bulgarian Aikido Federation extended its activities and became the biggest Aikido organization in Bulgaria. In 1995 he was elected member of the board of the European Aikido Federation and Vice-Chairman of the Committee for Development of Aikido in Europe.

On December 1, 1996 on his way to teach Aikido Georgi Ivanov died in a car accident together with his elder son, Dimitar.On December 1, 1997 an official delegation from Aikikai Hombu Dodjo arrived in Bulgaria and conferred posthumously 4-th Dan on Sensei Ivanov.Georgi Ivanov founded the Bulgarian Aikido Federation and Mongolian Aikido Federation. Through his devoted work he passed his love for Aikido to all of his students. He will remain a leading figure in the history of Aikido in Bulgaria.
